dinput8.dll downgrading itself?

Thu Jul 24, 2014 7:33 pm

Edit
forget it. i'm an idiot.
i'm using that switcher tool (bc2.exe) to start the game. that causes the problem.
when i use the BFBC2Game.exe it works without problems

Hello

curious problem here. when i start BC2 i get the "outdated" message.
so i download the new version (914) and overwrite the old file with it.
old file size is: 1,05 MB. New File size is 1,07 MB.

now i can start the game and play.
but! the exakt same thing happens again when i leave the game and restart it.
outdated message > i overwrite file (1,05 with 1,07MB) > can play.
that happens every time i start the game.

so dinput8.dll is downgrade / faulty upgrade itself? ô_O

There probably is a folder like "dinput_backup". Go in there and replace that dinput8.dll as well.

You should update the switcher to automatically download the latest version if there's an update.

I could, if there was a default download repository.

Assuming that it's kept up-to-date:
kiwidog.me/mirrors/ProjectRome.bXXX.zip
Just replace XXX with the version number, that should work.
Or do some dirty http parsing to get the download url from bf/?download

I'll bug NoFaTe to add a direct link to the most recent version to the API, maybe we're lucky ;)
